Cash for Kids/SYTA Youth Foundation trip to New York City

Cash For Kids #Cash4Kids and the SYTA Youth Foundation #syta20years hosted a group of youth on a trip to New York City via chartered motor coach from McKeesport, PA on September 7 – 10, 2016.  On Wednesday, September 7th the kids attended the New York Liberty v. Seattle Storm game at Madison Square Garden. The group was also attended the special retirement ceremony that paid tribute to the career and legacy of Swin later that evening at center court.

During the visit to New York City, Cash For Kids went on a walking tour of Central Park with a NYC Tour Guide, visited the American Museum of Natural History, the Intrepid Air & Space Museum, rode the BEAST speed boat, went to the Top of the Rock Observatory, and attended a special performance of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway. Cash for Kids also explored Times Square, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Madame Tussaud’s, THE RIDE, and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.  The trip ended with the kids attending the New York Liberty v. Connecticut Sun game on Friday, 9/9, and a Cash for Kids v. Cash for Kids game at Madison Square Garden in which the kids played each other on the historic Madison Square Garden court.

The trip exposed middle school kids to the history and culture of New York City while also giving them an opportunity to travel and experience first-hand the teamwork and skill of a WNBA game. The goal is to inspire them to be leaders – on and off the court! All of the kids received Cash for Kids t-shirts for each day of the trip and Nike backpacks.

A special thanks to the New York Liberty for allowing the kids to have the opportunity to play on the Madison Square Garden court! An experience that they will remember forever!
