Swin Cash, Team Bosh Three-Peat as Degree Shooting Stars Champions

Swin Cash, Chris Bosh and Dominique Wilkins found the winning formula for the third straight year on Saturday night.

The New York Liberty guard, Miami Heat star and NBA legend teamed up once again to take the Degree Shooting Stars crown at the Barclays Center, besting Tamika Catchings, Russell Westbrook and Penny Hardaway in the final round.

The Cash-Bosh-Wilkins trio emerged victorious at the same event in New Orleans in 2014 and Houston in 2013.

WNBA stars Elena Delle Donne (Team Millsap), and Sue Bird (Team Curry) also participated in the event, but were eliminated in the first round with times of 51.4 and 47.0 seconds, respectively. Team Bosh and Westbrook, featuring WNBA star Tamika Catchings, raced ahead of the field with marks under 40 seconds in that round before Wilkins gave Team Bosh the finals win, 57.6 to 90 seconds.

“It’s just the luck of the draw sometimes,” said Bird. “We had a pretty decent time going into the halfcourt shot, we just couldn’t hit it fast enough.” Delle Donne embraced the chance to play alongside a fellow Chicago star, Scottie Pippen. “He’s a great guy, so down to earth,” she said. “When you look up to an icon like that for so long and finally get to meet him, it’s really special that he’s that great of a person as well.”
