Cash For Kids hosted a group of youth on a trip to Washington DC via chartered motor coach. During the visit to DC, the middle school kids attended the Chicago Sky v. Washington Mystics game at the Verizon Center on July 24. The group was also getting treated to a special tour of DC, including the Lincoln Memorial and the Martin Luther King Memorial with a stop at the White House. They also enjoyed dinner at Nando’s and a stay at the Marriott Wardman Park.
The following day, Cash For Kids went on a special tour of the Capitol Building and visited the Air & Space Museum before heading back to McKeesport, PA. All of the kids received Cash For Kids t-shirts for each day of the trip and Nike backpacks.
The trip exposed middle school kids to the history and culture of Washington DC while also giving them an opportunity to travel and experience first-hand the teamwork and skill of a WNBA game and the inner-workings of our nation’s government. The goal was to inspire them to be leaders – on and off the court!
A special thanks to Boston Celtics’ Jeff Green for providing a motivating speech to Cash For Kids, as well as Kelli Davis with Sports United for making the trip a huge success!
About Cash For Kids – #Cash4Kids
Founded by 2x Olympic Gold Medalist Swin Cash of the Chicago Sky, Cash for Kids is a 501 (c)(3) charity whose motto is “BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, THEN LEAD!” Cash for Kids is Swin’s way of showing the community that she is more than just points and rebounds.
Cash for Kids – Mission Statement
Cash for Kids is committed to providing the essential tools – on and off the court – for kids to “get in the game.” We use sports and cultural activities to motivate, educate and elevate. Though we wish to embrace all youth, our focus is on the communities where Swin grew up (McKeesport, PA and Pittsburgh, PA), where she plays (Chicago, IL) and where she lives (Atlanta, GA).
