Besides playing basketball as a profession, what are your other extra activities? - Bertram, age 32
Well let's see, is there anything past SHOPPING? Ha ha ha, just kidding. When I am not in season, I like to do yoga, tae bo and charitable work with my charity Cash for Kids. I am close with my family, so spending as much time as I can with them is important, as well. - Swin
Swin, why did you choose the number 32? Also, have you ever had any other number? - Clare, age 14
There is no specific reasoning for my number. I just knew as a kid that everyone wanted number 23 because of Jordan. I loved Jordan as well, but I always wanted to be different, so I took the number 32. Clare, if you flip 23, what number do you get? ;-D - Swin
Hi Swin. Is there anything that distracts you from playing, such as men, going to clubs, friends, etc? - Candace, age 16
Well Candace, that's a really good question. People always tend to believe that as professional athletes, we don't get tempted by the temptations of this world. The truth is, we do get temptations just like everyone else, but for me there is one statement that tells how you can handle it, "Only the strong survive." I have great faith and a solid moral foundation that my parents gave to me. I can still hang with my friends and enjoy life, but when it's time to handle my business, I have my priorities in check. You have to discipline yourself, set goals and let no one or temptations stand in your way. - Swin
Hey Swin, first off, I would like to say that you are my favorite player and I always try to play with the same heart and attitude as you. My problem is that I am really shy, especially around guys. I heard that you can be kinda shy too, but what do you do to be more open and outgoing? - Dayna, age 14
Hi Dayna. Thanks so much for your kind words. When I am on that court, I play with so much energy because I love the game. I don't care what people think about me when I'm in between those lines. It's all about helping my team win, so I give them everything I got. Off the court, I was shy like you for a long time. At 14, I was entering 9th grade and just starting to see changes in my body, the clothes I wanted to wear and the friends I wanted to hang around. The best advice I can give you is this - you have to love yourself. Be confident in who you are and not who others may want you to be. Remember, no one can read minds, so you should always speak how you feel. The one thing you can do to be more outgoing is to try and surround yourself with other kids who are outgoing. Once you do that, you then have people you can do things with. Let me know how it turns out. - Swin
